Shachi loves connecting with young readers through fun, engaging, and culturally rich author visits.
Her sessions are designed to spark creativity, celebrate diversity, and invite children into the magic of storytelling.

1. Telling Stories Across Mediums  

Kids discover how one story idea can take shape in different forms such as books, animation, and audio. Shachi shares her journey as a writer and producer, using examples from her projects to show how voice, visuals, and sound bring stories to life. A fun and inspiring session that encourages students to think creatively about how stories are told.
2. Write Your Own Story: A Creative Workshop
In this interactive workshop, students become authors. Shachi guides them through building a story step by step, from creating characters to choosing settings and plotting beginnings, middles, and endings. This session encourages imagination, storytelling skills, and self-expression. Ideal for classroom visits or writing-focused events.
3. Bilingual Tales: Celebrating Language and Culture
A vibrant session celebrating bilingual storytelling. Shachi reads one of her books or another bilingual story, introduces words in both Hindi and English, and discusses how language helps us express who we are. This session is ideal for dual-language classrooms, cultural events, or libraries highlighting global stories.
4. Stories That Travel: What I’ve Learned from Living/Traveling Around the World
After traveling and living in various countries, Shachi shares how those experiences have shaped her and her stories. Kids learn how exploring new places sparks creativity and how every location leaves a mark on the stories we tell. A great fit for social studies lessons or global awareness programs.
5. Sound + Story: The Magic of Audio Storytelling
Using samples from her own audio documentary and media work, Shachi explains how sound effects, music, and voice shape emotion and meaning. Students explore how stories can be experienced through sound and even imagine creating their own audio scene.
6. Diwali & Me: Exploring Culture Through Picture Books
This session uses Diwali In My New Home to introduce kids to the festival of Diwali and themes of moving, belonging, and celebration. Shachi shares personal stories, shows visuals of diya lamps and sweets, and encourages children to reflect on their own family traditions. A perfect session for fall programming or cultural literacy events.
